Muslim countries, especially those who are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), must take firm steps in the form of implementing sanctions and even expelling the Israeli ambassador. That is the opinion conveyed by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in a statement from
the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (18/10).
"The foreign minister called for an immediate and comprehensive embargo against Israel by Islamic countries, including oil sanctions, in addition to expelling the Israeli ambassador if relations with the Zionist regime are established," said the
Iranian Foreign Ministry, as published by Reuters.
Amirabdollahian also called for the formation of a team of Islamic lawyers to document potential war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.
Currently the OIC foreign ministers are holding an extraordinary meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to discuss the increasing conflict between Palestine and Israel. On Tuesday night (17/10), Israel attacked Al Ahli Al Arabi Hospital
in Gaza, killing hundreds of people. Before the explosion at the hospital, health authorities in Gaza said at least 3,000 people had been killed during 11 days of Israeli bombardment that began after a Hamas attack on October 7.
Meanwhile around 1,300 people died in Israel, with another 200 people taken to Gaza as hostages by Hamas
