TANGERANG (KONTAK BANTEN) – Counting the days before the 2024 legislative and presidential elections, the UM Tangerang Senate stated its stance for elections with integrity based on moral movements. The declaration was carried out at the UM Tangerang Plaza, Wednesday (07/02/2023).
This Declaration activity was attended by 25 Senate Members, 4 Members of the Daily Advisory Board, Head of Bureau, Head of Agency and Director of the Tangerang Muhammadiyah University Institute
Dr. H. Ahmad Amarullah, always the Chairman of the Senate, read the contents of the Declaration regarding Elections with Integrity as follows:
- Expressing deep concern over the condition of the nation which is increasingly far from civilized values and the decline in moral and ethical values ahead of the 2024 elections.
- Urge President Jokowi to stop all his political maneuvers in order to win Gibran Rakabuming Raka as vice presidential candidate who is paired with Prabowo Subianto.
- Reminding President Jokowi to prioritize moral and ethical values in exercising his power as Head of State and to be neutral in the implementation of the 2024 elections.
- Calling on election organizers, both the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (BAWASLU) to maintain their independence in prioritizing integrity and carrying out their duties in organizing elections.
- To members of the TNI/Polri and ASN to maintain neutrality and not be intervened by any authority or party in the interests of one of the candidate pairs.
- Asking law enforcers, both the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Prosecutor's Office and the Police, to enforce the law as fairly as possible and not as a tool to beat opponents and embrace friends.
- Inviting the UM Tangerang Academic Community and the people of Banten in general to use their voting rights in the General Election by prioritizing conscience and rationality in making their choices and rejecting the practice of money politics.
After completing this declaration, Ahmad Amarullah reiterated that we, the Academic Community and Senate of UM Tangerang, would not hesitate to carry out this moral movement.
Apart from that, Ahmad Amarullah also reminded us that we are not carrying out practical political movements to support one of the candidate pairs.
"We do not hesitate to carry out this moral movement and we also remind you that we are not carrying out a practical political movement to support one of the candidate pairs, but how the values and rules of the game that have been determined according to the provisions of the applicable laws can be carried out consistently. and of course it can be implemented as well as possible," he said.
Ahmad Amarullah hopes that the election will take place through a process in such a way that we maintain that there is no cheating and no money politics in the context of political education for this nation, then we can welcome the Golden Indonesia 2045, determined by the stages of the history of this election.
"This election went through a process in such a way that we have to ensure that there is no fraud and no money politics, so in the context of political education this nation can welcome the Golden Indonesia 2045, determined by the stages of the history of this election," he said.
Furthermore, Ahmad Amarullah also hopes that several more elections will uphold democracy so that it is the task of all of us to see how our Democracy Index rises again.
"It is the task of all of us to make our Democracy Index rise so that we can finally invite investors to invest their capital without hesitation because the Indonesian state is truly committed and consistent in implementing the agreed rules, hopefully Indonesia will emerge as a country which is taken into account at the Asian and worldwide level," he said.
Ahmad Amarullah hopes that this election will take place honestly and fairly, directly to the public, free of secrets and with dignity and even civility.
