Jakarta-Indonesia firmly rejects the statement of the United States (US) that says the construction of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, Palestine is not contrary to international law.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi after accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stressed that the statement issued by Uncle Sam's country was wrong in connection with the construction of illegal settlements in the West Bank, Palestine.
"Indonesia firmly rejects a statement that says the construction of illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank is not contrary to international law," Retno said at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/20/2019). Retno explained the statement was clearly contrary to international law and various resolutions issued by the United Nations Security Council (UN) related.
"Indonesia strongly opposes Israel's actions in building illegal settlements in the Palestinian territories," Retno said.
"The construction of illegal settlements is de facto annexation and is a barrier to peace efforts based on the resolution of the two countries," said Retno.
